Our Birthplace of the Open Championship Package takes you to the Troon on the West coast of Scotland. The Open Championship was first played at nearby Prestwick in 1860.  Your experience includes 3 nights at this historic hotel which has hosted golf’s elite since 1894.  Troon’s 4 star Marine Hotel is a golfers paradise with many of the rooms overlooking Royal Troon Old Course which last hosted the Open Championship in 2016.

Your experience starts with a round at Prestwick Golf club which hosted the very first Open Championship in 1860. Your package also includes 18 holes at Troon Portland and Royal Troon’s famous Old Championship Course.

Your package includes 3 nights in Troon’s Majestic and Historic Marine Hotel built-in 1894 which looks onto Royal Troon Golf Course venue of Open Championship in 2016.

Day 1 – Arrive at The Marine Hotel and check into your 2 person suite overlooking Royal Troon Golf Course

Day 2 – Breakfast & Round of Golf at Prestwick Golf Links

Prestwick was designed with an unusual routing, featuring many blind shots and unusual angles to test the unwary golfer. Under the stewardship of Old Tom Morris, these playing characteristics were retained when the course was extended to 18 holes. Though Prestwick no longer plays host to The Open, its record of having hosted the Championship is bettered only by St Andrews. Both Old and Young Tom Morris, Willie Park Sr, and Harry Vardon won at the Ayrshire venue.

Day 3 – Breakfast – & 36 Holes of Golf – Champions Last Dinner

The Golf Day starts with a Practice Round of on Royal Troon’s Portland.  Next a quick lunch before you play Royal Troon.

The Portland Course offers terrific views and challenging play for golfers at every skill level. Well-groomed fairways and greens keep Royal Troon Golf Club – The Portland Course difficult yet friendly, and the staff can offer tips and tricks for playing your best round.

Founded in 1878 by a few enthusiasts Troon Golf Club soon outgrew its purely local reputation. The Old Course today presents a stern golfing examination and in particular, the inward half of Royal Troon is widely accepted as the most demanding of any Course on the Championship rota. The Open returned to the Ayrshire town for a ninth time in 2016 when the 145th Championship was played at Royal Troon. Golfers the world over vie to play Royal Troon’s famous courses and we encourage visitors to experience one of the most demanding Championship courses on the circuit.

You are sure to enjoy Royal Troon’s famous short Par 3 the Postage Stamp, The 123-yard eighth hole, is always a default story when the Open Championship comes to Troon.   It’s the shortest hole on the Open rota and the shortest that will be played in any major championship.  It possesses a deep history and guarantees moments of delight and disaster, not to mention stunning topography that makes it by far the most scenic hole on an otherwise dour link.   So far this year, it’s also been a pivotal one.
